Patchwork - Laura Lloyd '04

Hello!
Come along and bring those you know to see the first two of a trilogy of autobiographical performances I'm doing this autumn, collectively called Patchwork. These unusual shows are full of true stories, surreal imagery and compassionate humour, and are arguably the strangest thing I have ever done. The first one takes place amid the pastoral landscape paintings of a beautiful gallery near Holborn, and the second at various locations - the details are below and on the website too. I'd be delighted if you can make it and of course love to hear your thoughts on it all.
Patchwork Part 1: The Exhibition(ist)
7pm Wed 22nd and Fri 24th October
The Langham Gallery, 34 Lamb's Conduit Street, WC1N 3LE
Receivea guided tour of a gallery exhibiting objects from the thirtieth year of Laura's life: an intimate yet humourous account of a rotten year of bad luck and unraveling sanity. Using live performance and recorded sound, with music composed by the wonderful Kora, Laura weaves together themes of needlework and autobiography in this daring and intriguing staging. Those dirty white trainers are aching to speak.
Patchwork Part 2: My Mum
7.30pm Thurs 23rd October
The Battersea Barge, Kirtling Street SW8 5BP
(with live music by Kora, and a set by Rob Marr)
and 4pm, Sat 25th October
The Bath House, 96 Dean St, W1D 3TA
Piecing an impression of Laura's life bit by bit, like patches of a quilt, through a series of staged episodes, Laura unravels the story of her hippie mother's influence on her upbringing. But the field mushrooms, the homeopathic remedies for ancestral grief and her mother's Buddhist refusal to get a job sometimes prove too much for Laura to bear. One of thoseepic parent-offspring rows is brewing. Pheweee. You know the ones I mean.
Watch this space for Part 3: The Knitting Circle!
My very best wishes,
Laura Lloyd
